AfriBugs cc

Invertebrate Consulting Specialists

Capabilities

AfriBugs, established in 1999, has extensive experience in designing, planning and organising logistics to yield smooth-running and efficient surveys, having carried out 16 field trips for EIA, monitoring and biodiversity projects in rural Tanzania in addition to numerous (in excess of 70) field surveys in South Africa and other countries. We are equipped to carry out field surveys of invertebrates using a wide variety of techniques as appropriate to the taxa and habitats relevant to each study. Much of the equipment we use has been built by us using designs developed in response to the unique conditions we have encountered during our varied field experiences.

Mission Statement

To provide invertebrate environmental assessments of the highest quality, using standardised and repeatable methodology appropriate to each study and including robust statistical analyses to support predictions and provide sound monitoring baselines, thus providing conservation decision-makers with the best possible information on these often-neglected groups.

To encourage proactive involvement of developers and mining companies in invertebrate conservation. Our goal is, wherever possible, to achieve a net positive impact on conservation by incorporating appropriate strategies into project design and environmental management plans.

Where necessary to provide customised equipment optimally suited to the unique conditions and circumstances encountered in the field.
